Merry Christmas from Troy
15.12.11
Hello all and what a year its been,
After the floods to start the year and a huge clean up and missing my first Tamworth in many years, 2011 was on its way.
A few shows with Kenny Rogers was a huge thrill to hear all his songs done live and to play the opera house in Sydney was great.
I spent a bit of time in WA which was a good change Boyup Brook festival was a highlight, Keela dreaming was amazing as was Port Headland really good people
and I felt very much appreciated. CMC rocks the Hunter gave me a lot of joy and was a great gig!!
A writing trip to Nashville was a such a thrill then the Gympie muster how cool is that festival!! One of our best I reckon.
I wrote a couple of songs with Adam Harvey a good mate one of which was the title track of his new record and a nomination in the CMAA awards which is a buzz.
Went through Western NSW and got to see some amazing country again Wee Waa in particular really looked good and loved Dubbo..
Charters towers was a festival to remember, incredible folks and great town in general.
Two great Gigs with my wife at Kedron and Nambour really touched me because the kids got up as well special stuff.
Weipa turned on a nice night for us up there for their Naidoc week celebrations which made us all appreciate the far north of QLD amazing country up there for sure.
Then with new songs in hand my manager Roxanne and I headed for Nashville once again to make the new record. What a blast that was, some of the best Country players in the world playing on songs I have written, total blow out for sure.
Straight into some weekends work with my mate Adam Harvey for some classic Country shows and we rounded out a neat year.
A quick photo shoot in the home of Country Music Tamworth!! And a film clip for my new single “Country Is” and we are at the other end of the year again with a couple of Christmas Carols.
Last Sunday Laurel me and the kids went to a special kids Christmas party and it made me look back on my year and think that all of my career stuff a side we have to appreciate our families and kids they should be the focus of our lives all year round not just Christmas!!
Some of the little kids I met really moved me and they don’t complain they just get on with it.
That’s my lesson for this year to carry into 2012
Love to all and thanks
Troy..

Troy releases his brand new single – Country Is – from the forthcoming album ‘Home’
01.12.11
It wasn’t a great start to 2011 for residents of Queensland. Troy’s annual concert at the Tamworth Country Music Festival was almost cancelled when his own farm went under water. The trouper and troubadour that he is came down to Tamworth to do his ‘Troy and Friends’ gig for his fans and to tell the folks down there that he and his fellow Queenslanders were down but not out. He reminded us all that the people that were living in the flood-affected areas of Queensland, Northern New South Wales and Victoria all still very much needed a helping hand and a shoulder to cry on. Troy did his own show, couldn’t resist hopping up for a couple of guest spots at friends shows and then flew straight home to get stuck into the ‘cleanup’ for not only his place, but his friends and neighbours and anyone else who needed a hand. He also played numerous under-the-radar benefit gigs to assist those struggling financially. As well as being one of the headline performers, Troy was also invited to be the right hand man for HRH Prince William at the ‘Spirit Of The Country’ show held in Toowoomba in March.
Since then Troy has toured with Kenny Rogers, headlined his own shows and performed at music festivals across Australia. In amongst all of these commitments Troy wrote, co-wrote and demo’d a stack of new songs.
In October, Troy travelled to Nashville to record and produce his brand new studio album ‘Home’.
My farm has been a huge part of my writing since we’ve owned it. After the floods went through in Jan 2011 we thought it would never be the same but we were wrong. Even with a bad flushing dunny, no carpet and mud stains still on the kitchen floor, Col Buchanan and I wrote some tunes we are really proud of. This song is about what Country is to us and what it does for your heart to have warm loving people who would give you the shirt off their back……That’s what ‘Country Is’ to me…. TCD, November 2011.
‘Country Is’ is the first single lifted from Troy Cassar-Daley’s forthcoming eighth studio album ’Home’. Available on itunes on Wednesday November 30th, 2012.
The film clip for ‘Country Is’ was shot and directed by video ace Duncan Toombs in Tamworth.
‘Home’ will be released Friday March 2nd, 2012 through Liberation Music.

Troy and Adam Harvey back together again for shows in November…

Troy Cassar-Daley & Adam Harvey sing the greatest country songs of all time
Troy Cassar-Daley and Adam Harvey are considered to be two of the best voices in Australian music!
In their chosen genre of country music they are indisputably the most respected singers of their generation.
A true testament to this claim is the fact that between them they have won the male Vocalist (now called male artist) of the year award a total of 10 times in the past 15 years. And while Troy and Adam were competing for awards for much of that time, they have also become great mates brought about by a common love of traditional country music – especially their major influences such as great American singers and songwriters George Jones, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Glen Campbell, Willie Nelson – and of course, Australia icon Slim Dusty. For a number of years they attempted to align their busy schedules with a plan to come together to perform some of their favourite songs from these artists. That happened in 2008 and 2010 so a handful of shows were booked in Sydney and surrounds. They were sold out in weeks and were a massive success, so due to popular demand they are back with another run of shows.
For fans of great voices and unforgettable country music, you can’t afford to miss

Hi from Troy
22.08.11
G’day Folks ,
Its been a while and there has been so much going on around the world makes me appreciate living here sometimes.I start this News letter with sad news of the Passing of Jimmy Little’s wife MARJORIE Rose Little. She was a beautiful woman and a part of a true love story for sure I send my love to Jimmy and his family at this very sad time.
I wrote a song with a blue’s folk man called Eric Bibb last year and he recorded it and released it on his new Live record which was a huge buzz for me he also offered me a chance to come in and sing it with him at the power House in Brisbane and I had a ball!!
I got to see one of my favourite places again this year in the Northern Territory Oenpeli (Gunbalanya). I got to write a song with the kids at two schools and play two shows up there and also follow another one of my passions and that is to fish!! Barramundi and Saratoga are my fav top end fish to catch and the pics and smile to prove it!!
I also got a chance to get up to Far North QLD to the beautiful town of Weipa, what a great town and incredible show! Folks up there really know how to make you feel welcome and appreciate Country music.
Our Sydney shows during July were some of the most fun I have had for a long time, we got to try some new tunes on the crowds which were very well received and the dinner and show format was a great change as well for me and the band.
Then I was Nashville bound for a two week writing trip to get with some of my favourite writers I have linked up with over the past couple of years, I had a blast mixing with them they are really nice people who love and care about their art and were happy in the early days to starve for it.
I got to play the amazing Grand Ole Opry once again this trip and I even had to buy a new shirt for the show because I didn’t think I was going to do any performing just writing, so down town I went got a great shirt and I was ready I played Bar Room Roses and Yesterday’s bed both very traditional songs of mine which I wanted to play there out of respect it was my third time on the Opry and I was still nervous !! I was introduced by Jim Ed Brown who had a hit with Popper top again that Alan Jackson covered and it was a great experience all round for me.
I caught up with my mate Keith Urban while I was there at his sound check down town before his show he was in the middle of his big tour through the states and very busy, he wanted to give me a loan of an old guitar to write with And I think I clocked up around 12 new songs on that thing not bad for an old guitar to still have that many songs in it a?
I went down to the Country Music Hall of fame twice while there and it was very moving to see the things that some of my idols long since gone played and wore I also went to the opening of the Chet Atkins display with some good friends and the things that Chet Atkins did in Nashville were amazing, signing Dolly Parton and Waylon Jennings and recording some of the most amazing Guitar instrumentals the world has ever heard. I was thrilled to see my friend Tommy Emmanuel feature in the exhibition as well as he is a huge part of keeping Chet’s music and songs alive on the road made me very proud actually.
Well I better get myself packed as I have a show at the Gympie Muster coming up this week its the 30th Anniversary for this amazing Country Music festival and so many people are coming up for a look I cant wait
Love to all till next time
Regards

Troy and Laurel will help open the new Equestrian Centre in Caboolture!
03.08.11
The Queensland State Equestrian Centre at Caboolture will open with a star-studded stampede on Saturday, September 3, and everyone is invited.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said Moreton Bay Regional Council was marking the occasion in style with country music glamour couple Laurel Edwards and Troy Cassar-Daley to MC a fantastic afternoon line up of free entertainment at the centre’s Main Arena.
“The gates open at midday, and residents are invited to the free-entry grand opening to help us celebrate,” Mayor Sutherland said.
Deputy Mayor and Division Three Councillor Greg Chippendale urged residents to be among the first to see the premier equestrian and events venue.
“Come along and enjoy equestrian demonstrations, pony rides, outback tucker and market stalls before the Southern Cross Stampede kicks off in the Main Arena at 2.30pm,” he said.
Laurel Edwards said she was looking forward to playing a part in helping the region celebrate the new venue.
“Troy and I wanted to have a look around the arena before the big day because we’re going to share MC duties. We’re both excited that the region has welcomed us to play a part in the opening of this very special venue,” she said.
Troy Cassar-Daley is no stranger to the area, having performed at the Urban Country Music Festival on several occasions.
“I’m hoping to see more than a few familiar faces in the audience. Urban Country has a great family friendly vibe, and I hope we’ll be able to harness that same vibe for the QSEC grand opening,” he said.
The Southern Cross Stampede will feature a light horse and tent pegging display, a trick riding display, a liberty horse display that demonstrates the strong emotional bonds between horses and humans, and gymnastics on horseback.
Local celebrity and Urban Country Music Festival favourite, James ‘Whip’ Wilson will demonstrate his whip cracking skills.
Troy will wow the crowds when he performs a few songs, supported by Strathpine’s own up-and-coming band Local Residents. The program wraps up around 5pm.
“It’s going to be a wonderful afternoon of celebrations and a fitting tribute to a venue that we’re expecting will be a valued community asset for years to come,” Cr Chippendale said.
